This is the time of year when everyone goes canning crazy. Unless you’re someone who doesn’t know the first thing about preserving. If that’s the case and you’re feeling left out of all the fun of making your own jams, pickles and chutneys then you are in luck. This weekend you can attend the first ever Home Ec Big Outdoor Kitchen Party at Harbourfront Centre and you can learn how to preserve and pickle from some of the best canners in town.
WellPreserved.ca is excited to present Toronto’s first ever full day event focusing on the art of preserving. “The Home Ec Big Outdoor Kitchen Party” takes over Harbourfront Centre’s beautiful new North Exhibition Common with FREE preserving demos and food talks all day alongside some of the best local small batch preserving and food companies. Eat, Sample and buy great food and drink, small batch preserves and artisanal food products. Honey, jam, jelly, pickles, kimchi, goat milk chocolate, local non GMO cooking oils, hot sauces and more! Enjoy some great food, a glass of local wine, mead, cider or kombucha and talk preserving with one of the many experts and authors on site. Talks and Demos will happen all day under 2 tents on the site.
The main tent will feature talks by: Marisa McClellan (foodinjars.com, Phillidephia, PA), Joel MacCharles (wellpreserved.ca, tedxtoronto.com), Meghan Telpner (meghantelpner.com) and David Ort (Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook) along with many of the other experts featured.
