We’ve discovered an absolutely delicious recipe that will make a super healthy smoothie that tastes so good it seems like it must be bad for you. We have written about alternatives to cow’s milk before and every few months we come across a new product that allows us to satisfy our nutritional needs while offering a delicious break from the mighty dairy industry, not to mention exempting us from contributing to the problems inherent in the industry, the animal welfare and deleterious impact on the environment.
Almond Breeze is one of those products, a creamy, smooth beverage with a hint of almond taste that is a great alternative to dairy and soy. High in calcium and Vitamin E, it is awesome on cereal, or consumed by the glass, or for use in baking, and of course is suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets, which is great for anyone who wants to have a drink without getting a mouth of animal fat. And if you do not feel like purchasing a carton, you can always make your own almond milk at home, in small quantities that will not spoil or get pushed to the back of the fridge.
I’ve become an Almond Breeze fan recently and it has made its way into my morning smoothie. Recently I came across this recipe that ups the antioxidant power and is the best way to start the day. We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and here is a recipe for a high-powered smoothie that will set you straight…especially when you feel like a nut. Ha.
1 cup (250 mL) Almond Breeze® Vanilla
1/2 cup (125 mL) pomegranate juice
1 cup (250 g) frozen unsweetened strawberries, partially thawed
1 ripe banana, peeled, sliced
Directions Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Yield: 2 Servings
