For those of you that indulge in the guilty pleasure of judging a book by its cover, and a product by its label, look no further than J.R. Watkins’ Natural Home Care All Purpose Cleaner. This 24 oz bottle packs a punch in the aesthetics department; its distinctive 19th century style packaging will have you looking for a saloon to clean while you have a shot of whisky with Miss Kitty.
Manufactured in the small town of Winona, Minnesota since 1868, and distributed in Canada through it’s Winnipeg offices since 1913, the company has managed to diversify, keep up with the times, maintain its core values and stay family owned. Their line of home cleaning products have been featured in numerous magazines including Redbook, Elle and Real Simple.
The all purpose cleaner is recommended for appliances, fixtures, sinks, floors, walls and is safe for woodwork. It is non toxic and biodegradable, made largely from naturally derived plant based ingredients like ethanol from corn, natural oils and food grade citric acids, scented with aloe and green tea.
It is also, according to the label, “ammonia free, animal testing free, bleach free, doubt free, guilt free phosphate free, skepticism free…” and contains “conscience-clearing power”
Well, I don’t know if it will work on my conscience, but it sure works on my stove.
