It’s not what you think, stop scrabbling for your shoebox of receipts! Put down the calculator and the T-4’s. It is tax time and if you haven’t prepared yours yet then you’d better get on it, but that’s not what this post is about. This post is about booze, and the cocktail in the spotlight is one that seemed fitting for this time of year.
If you’ve never had a Taxman you could mix it up yourself or you could come out to the Drake tonight and let three brilliant mixologists mix it up for you. At 8pm tonight, in the Drake Sky Yard, Christina Kuypers, Chris Duncan and Bryn Bratton Wall of Distill Cocktails will be taking part in The Order of Good Cheer for 86’d Monday.
These three will each make their own version of this classic drink and you can order a flight of the three variations to taste the subtle nuances of each.
Last month we did the Pink Squirrel and the month before was the Martini, for March it’s all about the Taxman!
2 ounce Tanqueray gin
1/4 ounce sweet vermouth
1/4 ounce dry vermouth
1 ounce blood orange juice
Angostura bitters to taste
Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with blood orange twist.
