The Portuguese Festival

Every year ACAPO (Alliance of Portuguese Clubs and Associations of Ontario) hosts a festival and fair in Trinity-Bellwoods park. There’s music, food, traditional costumes and lots of fun to be had in the wide open space that’s friendly to dogs and kids alike.

It’s events like this that make our city such an interesting place to live.

We’ve got the whole world in this incredible city and we can pop in and out of different countries and cultures just by walking down a street or setting out to a local park.

Make this your weekend to discover Portugal’s incredible culture in your own back yard. Be sure to catch the Portuguese metal band, Moonspell, in the park tonight at 8pm. They sing about vampires in Portuguese! And English. In fact they did this song, Vampiria, for the movie “Queen of the Damned”.

To get in the spirit, here is one of our favourite recipes from that remarkable country — Portuguese Seafood Stew. Remember you can pick up sustainable fish at our fish counter!
