Food Blogger Bake-Off

Tonight will see five of Toronto’s best food bloggers in a Bake-Off to celebrating the launch of HarperCollins latest cookbook release – Bourke St. Bakery. This book is a baker’s dream, with a large span of recipes, loads of beautiful photographs and detailed instruction on everything from how to make homemade croissants to choosing the right flour for a tart shell. Follow us on twitter for a chance to win your very own copy!Kristina Groeger, David Ort, Andrea Toole, Stephanie Dickison and Joel Solish are the five bloggers who have taken the challenge. These five, who all have well-established presence on twitter, have been spending the past few weeks poring over the pages of the Bourke St. Bakery cookbook. They are all trying to find the perfect recipe to execute for tonight’s challenge while blogging & tweeting about the process. Luckily the book is full of unique and tantalizing recipes like Lamb & Harrisa Sausage Rolls or Passionfruit Tarts with Soft Meringue, so there will be lots to choose from.

It is not an easy task, for they have to find a recipe they can do well but one that will also appeal to the greatest amount of people, if they are to take home the people’s votes, or one that will appeal to the expert panel of judges to grab those votes. With only one professional chef in their ranks will this group be successful in either case?

Judging their recipes will be Amy Rosen, columnist for the National Post and editor at House & Home Magazine, along with the owners of Madeleines, Cherry Pie & Ice Cream and Sweet Escapes.

This event is open to the public and those who attend will get to vote for their favourite bite of the night. A judge’s choice and a people’s choice winner will be chosen, each receiving a prize pack of cookbooks from HarperCollins’ catalogue.

Type Books will be on hand for those who want to purchase their own copy. It will be held in the Lounge at the Drake Hotel, it’s free and it all starts at 7pm.
