Toronto is a great place to be for food festivals in the summertime and there are two with similar names that could easily be confused but each deserve our attention. I’m talking about Taste of Toronto and Toronto Taste, and both will feature this guy – Antler Chef and Owner Michael Hunter.
First up is Taste of Toronto (June 15-18). This is the offspring of the successful Taste Festivals that include events in London and Hong Kong. Taste of Toronto is a celebration of the best chefs and restaurants that the city has to offer, all in one spot. So you can literally eat at a dozen restaurants all in the same day at Garrison Common. This year’s lineup includes Bar Isabel, Piano Piano, Little Sister, Momofuku, the Drake Hotel, Bar Buca, Antler, Café Boulud and more. There are also chef demos and cooking lessons, wine tastings and mixology sessions. And tickets are currently $17*. Definitely worth checking out.
The other festival with the similar sounding name is Toronto Taste and that is a fundraiser for Second Harvest. Second Harvest started in ’85 and is the largest food rescue program in Canada. Everyone is concerned about food waste and Second Harvest is an organization that fights food waste like no other having delivered over 9.5 million pounds of food to people in Toronto in the past year. Participating restaurants at Toronto Taste include Boralia, Maple Leaf Tavern, Bar Reyna, Le Select, Cluny, Dufflet, Baro and many more – including Antler! This is an opportunity to support a great cause while enjoying dishes from a huge roster of incredible chefs. Also, not to be missed!
