Swooning Over Succulents

Succulents in cool blues, and warm pinks glow in an orange ceramic pot.

A trip to California made me head over heels with all plants succulent, from the super sharp agave to the softly rounded senecios, in all sorts of greens, blue-greens and greys. The ones above are echeverias, and they come in a mind-boggling array of colours and shapes. These are pot it and forget it plants that can take your hottest spots, and rarely need watering. I’m re-thinking my practice of annual flowers and thinking I may focus on pots of succulents from now on. The only down-side is the need to winter frost-sensitive succulents indoors, but for what they give back, that’s a small price to pay.
