There are also special ticketed events as well, for example if you want to learn the secrets of Soba noodles, check out the workshop hosted by Ted Iizuka  from Soba Canada where you will learn all about this classic dish. Or if it’s high time you honed your knife skills, check out the tutorial by Kevin Kent  (Knifewear) who will have you slicing and dicing your way to superstar status.

Guests in the Grand Tasting Pavilion will be able to sample up to 130 offerings from the best food and beverage purveyors from Ontario as well as the rest of Canada and select international purveyors. World famous Cochon 555  will be on hand with the ever callipygous Chuck Hughes from Montreal presenting a once in a lifetime dinner of delicious heritage Barbecue pork –over 1400 lbs of it- with Toronto’s own Matty Matheson.

Not content with sitting on well-earned illustrious laurels, the organizers have included one of the more anticipated and interesting events of the Food & Wine Festival; the crowning of Canada’s Best New Student Chef. Aspiring Chefs representing the best and brightest talent from cooking schools from all across Canada will participate in a live, on-stage competition preparing a dish from a well-known cookbook, with the author on stage! Who will be Canada’s next young superstar? Who are the cookbook authors whose recipes will be prepared? Show up and find out, and cheer for your favourites!
