Go Jays!
Like most of Toronto, and indeed the whole country, we here at Fiesta Farms are getting caught up in Blue Jays Fever. And if you are following the series, you aware that their next game against the Texas Rangers is Wednesday October 14 at 4 p.m. Win, and the Jays move on to the Division final; lose, and it’s “Just wait til next year!”
Having waited 22 years to see the Blue Jays play in the post-season, households all over the GTA are holding at-home Jays viewing parties, offering beer, nachos, sausages and of course hot dogs with ballpark mustard.
For the non-beer drinkers, and and in honour of the Jays, Bacardi Canada has created a cocktail recipe that should be a home run with your guests; The Top of the Six is a punch that truly packs a punch, blending the flavours of spiced rum, lemon, peach and ginger beer. Seriously, when is the last time you broke out that punch bowl? Punch is great at parties as it allows your guests to serve themselves just the amount they want, and as the host, you can just point to the punchbowl while keeping your eyes glued to the set. Served with a platter of hot dogs and a big bowl of popcorn, this is sure to bring a little pizzazz to your viewing party, and maybe even a little luck to our beloved boys of summer.
Top of the Six Punch: Named after Toronto’s latest hip moniker, the Six actually contains 6 delicious ingredients perfectly refreshing for a group of friends during the home stretch innings.
2parts Bacardi Oakheart Spiced rum
.75parts freshly squeezed lemon juice
2parts ginger beer
1parts club soda
.5parts peach syrup
Generous dashes of Angostura bitters (to taste)
Method: Add all ingredients to a punch bowl. Place a large block of ice in the punch and garnish with frozen slices of peach and lemon.
