 If you’re someone who has considered vegetarianism, the good folks at the Toronto Vegetarian Association (TVA) are helping you give it a try with their Veggie Challenge, an initiative that challenges participants to try being vegetarian or vegan for seven days. If you’re not sure how to go about it, what to prepare, don’t sweat it; once you sign up for the challenge the TVA will send you recipes and meal plans, information on getting the recommended amount of protein, vitamins and minerals, tips for shopping, recommendations for Vegetarian and vegan restaurants and fast food joints and more! You could even win prizes just for participating! Prizes!  The goal is to make the week as informative and fun, delicious and healthy as possible, from a vegetarian perspective.

Founded way back in 1945, the TVA is a charitable organization run by volunteers whose mission it is “ to inspire people to choose a healthier, greener, more compassionate lifestyle through plant-based eating.”

The cool thing about this challenge is you can start it whenever you want. Want to put it off until next week, no problem. When you’re ready, all you have to do is sign up and answer a few short questions that will help the organizers streamline the challenge to meet your needs, like the date you plan on starting, whether you are going vegan or vegetarian, your interest and expertise in the kitchen, and other considerations that should make participating a pleasure, not a chore.
