The lemonade of my personal dreams is made with lemons that have been grilled. Then I purée some watermelon and add a bunch of Perrier so it is slightly effervescent and not too sweet.
This lemonade recipe requires some prep but OMG is it worth it. Just in time for Canada Day weekend, here is
The Lemonade Of Your Dreams
5 lemons halved and grilled
1 watermelon, rind removed and cut into chunks
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
mint for garnish
Perrier or sparkling water
You can grill your lemons in advance. Next time you heat up the grill, give them a nice sear on the cut side and then save in the fridge until ready to use.
Juice lemons, strain and set aside. Purée watermelon chunks in blender, strain, stir with brown sugar to combine and set aside.
In a large pitcher filled 2/3rds of the way with watermelon juice, stir in lemon juice, just a bit at a time until you get the desired tartness. Stir well, adding Perrier to finish. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint.
You can also garnish this delicious lemonade with a shot of vodka but that’s totally up to you!
