This Monday July first is Canada Day, so today we thought we’d look at a company that is doing our country proud; Earth’s Own, a Canadian company based in British Columbia that is producing fantastic plant-based beverages that are as good for you as they are for the earth.

on our store shelves now!

There’s no doubt about it, oats are good for you. Many of us grew up with a bowl of oatmeal porridge almost every winter day, but aren’t that keen to keep that tradition alive. Enter oat milk, currently one of the hottest trends in milk alternatives around, especially as consumers are weening themselves of soy milk, and alarmed at the amount of water required to produce almonds. (hint: a gallon per almond) Earth’s Own So Fresh Oat beverage uses seven times less water to produce than almond or cow’s milk.

“Why do we love Oat M*lk so much? It uses 7x less water to produce than almond or cow’s milk. S-e-v-e-n-t-i-m-e-s! Plus our all-Canadian and gluten-free oats are grown without glyphosates using nothin’ but sunshine & rainwater. Protecting the environment is one of our main missions at Earth’s Own and we believe every little effort counts toward making a larger impact. All while using healthier ingredients, like sunflower oil instead of canola oil, because good fats are a good thing. It may seem like a glass of creamy & delish Oat M*lk with 4g of protein and 2g of fibre, but it represents a stronger planet and a healthier future”- Earth’s Own

A stronger planet and a healthier future to be sure, but a stronger and healthier body as well! Earth’s Own So Fresh is gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, carrageenan-free, non-GMO Project Verified and vegan friendly. In addition, all beverages are Kosher products certified Kosher by Kashruth Council of Canada (COR). When it comes to nutrition, these oat beverages (    unsweetened original, unsweetened vanilla, and chocolate) have you covered; the unsweetened original, for example: a 250 ml serving contains 10% of your daily requirements of vitamin A, zinc and magnesium, 25% of your daily riboflavin, 30% of your RDA of calcium, 45% RDA of vitamin D and 50% of your vitamin B- 12 needs. In addition, it has 4g of protein and 2 g of fibre, 2 g of fat (mostly from the addition of sunflower oil) and zero cholesterol. No artificial anything, and no preservatives.

“Buying plant-based means less water, less land and using less energy to produce. It means sustainable farming practices, including organic or local when we can. Absolutely no glyphosates and choosing Canadian home grown oats. It means healthy plant-based fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. Sunflower oil, not canola, because it is better for you and gives you sustainable energy. Saying no to palm oil, carrageenan and bone char and yes to plant protein. At Earth’s Own we are 100% vegan, 200% Canadian and make zero compromises when it comes to taste!”- Earth’s own

You can use it wherever you use milk, or milk alternatives; by the glass, on cereal, in smoothies, and in lattes and steamed milk beverages as it froths up beautifully. Indeed, oat milk is taking the barista world by storm, so much so that Earth’s Own is now producing a line specifically geared for your favourite coffee shop.

Earth’s Own is based in B.C but also has plants, as it were, in Mississauga and Quebec city, helping to make sure all of Canada is looked after. Canadian grown by Canadian farmers. Not too shabby!
