What keeps you working at Fiesta Farms?
Fiesta has an old-school style, but it’s all about support. When I started, people told me Fiesta Farms treats their staff like family. It’s true. Everyone is so dedicated and passionate about this place. The sense of community at Fiesta makes it feel like I’m part of something bigger than a job.
What hidden secrets do you have for grocery shoppers?
Many products use terms like “natural,” “eco,” or “sustainable.” It can be confusing.
If you want to know if a dry product (outside the produce section) is organic, there are two things you need to look for.
- The Canada organic symbol: This symbol says that at least 85% of what’s inside is certified organic.
- Non-GMO product butterfly: This shows you that your food is not genetically modified.
What hasn’t changed about Fiesta Farms?
Joe Furfaro! Joe Furfaro! Joe Furfaro! That guy is constantly on the floor, helping customers. Furfaro is hands-on and has a work ethic and dedication that’s next level. It pushes me to bring that same level of dedication to my work.
What’s your favourite aisle, and why?
The non-alcoholic section – aisle seven. Dino and I built it together from the ground up. It’s so rewarding to see customers, especially new customers, discover and appreciation the delicious stuff we’ve curated.
What’s your favourite food memory?
Eating my mom’s fritada at family gatherings with everyone around the table.. It’s a traditional Ecuadorian dish made with chunks of braised pork, potatoes and white corn. Second place? Ceviche hands down.
