Thank you to everyone for sharing positive feedback on our efforts to make Canadian products more visible in the store.  As one customer told us:

” I love your Made in Canada initiative! Thank you, and Vive le Canada!”

Vive le Canada, indeed! Local is in our DNA. Now that it’s on everyone’s mind, we’re thrilled to showcase it.

So, without further ado, here’s this week’s roundup on stand-out Canadian brands we call the Fiesta Five.

1. Rude Mama, Toronto Ontario

Rude Mama Original Hot Sauce

Founder Vian Nguyen is behind this woman-owned company that makes truly exceptional hot sauces. The name Rude Mama is an homage to all the strong women who helped raise Vian. All based on traditional Central Vietnamese recipes, the fruit-forward sauces made with pineapple, mango and passionfruit are particularly delicious.

2. Cookstown Greens, Essa Township Ontario

A plate of organic rainbow-coloured carrots from Cookstown Greens.

Just an hour outside of Toronto, Cookstown Greens is an organic, family-run farm that only grows microgreens & root vegetables. Their GMO free, organic rainbow-coloured carrots, with psychedelic names like Purple Haze, look gorgeous on the plate – roasted, in salads, or just on their own. They’re harvested in the fall, but sweet and available all year long.

3. Sapsucker, Flesherton Ontario

Cans of Sapsucker sparkling beverages.

Every Canadian kid knows that it takes 40 buckets of sap to make one bucket of syrup. Sapsucker sparkling beverages skip the syrup, using sap water tapped from Canadian Maple Trees in Ontario and Quebec to sweeten their beverages. The sap has magical properties like electrolytes and antioxidants. “The Orange one” flavour is like healthy (Canadian!) Orange Crush.

4. Harmonic Arts, Cumberland, British Columbia

A bag of Harmonic Arts 5 Mushroom Cacao Herbal Latte.

Harmonic Arts has a total BC vibe. They’re on a mission to make traditional herbalism a household practice. Their 5 Mushroom Cacao Herbal Latte uses Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, and Turkey Tail mushrooms. Yarrow Willard, the comany’s Co-Founder recently said: “I’ve come to see functional mushrooms as essential for what I call ‘resilience on a polluted planet.’ ” It’s delicious plant medicine disguised as a cup of cocoa.

5.  Eco-Max, Oakville, Ontario

Eco-Max Natural Lavender Laundry Wash

Don’t be fooled by the muscular bald guy, Eco-Max proves that cleaning products can both be chemical-free and do a great job of cleaning while also being Canadian. Eco-Max is dedicated to Canada right down to their bottles and caps. Try their plant based laundry strips or wash made with therapeutic grade essential oils like lavender, orange or go fragrance free.

Finally, please tell us about about Canadian brands you love.  We’ll  feature them in upcoming Fiesta Five posts.
