March, oh glorious March! The month that ushers in the much-awaited spring vibes, promising warmer weather, blooming flowers, and a myriad of exciting events. It’s a time when we bid farewell to the frosty grip of winter and eagerly embrace the budding (and still somewhat frosty) joys of a new season. So, grab your sunglasses (and your toque) and join us on a whimsical journey through the wonders of March.

Let’s kick off with a cheerful tradition that may leave some of us feeling a tad groggy but signals brighter days ahead: the infamous clock change! Yes, you guessed it right – daylight saving time springs into action in March. While losing an hour of precious sleep might seem like a cruel trick, fear not! It’s the universe’s way of gifting us with longer evenings, perfect for leisurely strolls and outdoor adventures.

On March 9th the city of Toronto will be having a birthday party in Nathan Phillips Square. You only turn 190 years old once, and everyone’s welcome to celebrate with food vendors, live music and a fireworks display.

March isn’t just about resetting our clocks; it’s also about resetting our spirits. Enter Saint Patrick’s Day, the one day when everyone becomes Irish at heart. March 17th transforms into a sea of green, as people don their shamrock-adorned attire and celebrate with merry parades, lively music, and perhaps a pint or two of the beloved Guinness. Toronto’s parade route can be found here.

And let’s not overlook the crown jewel of March – the much-anticipated March Break! Ah, yes, that cherished week when students rejoice and parents either plan a getaway or brace themselves for a whirlwind of activities. Whether you’re trying the escape rooms at Casa Loma, visiting a butterfly conservatory just outside the city, or heading to Sugar Beach to enjoy traditional cabane au sucre maple treats at the Redpath Sugar Shack, there’s plenty to do. March Break is a time to  make unforgettable memories with loved ones.

But the magic of March doesn’t stop there. Oh no, dear reader, it’s just getting started! March is a month of transition, where nature awakens from its winter slumber and bursts forth in a riot of colors. For us, that all starts in April and May, when we can expect cherry blossom blooms and daffodils swaying in the breeze. For now, the best way to dust off those winter blues and embrace the vitality of spring is to head to Allen Gardens Conservatory, where the spring flowers are on display from now until the end of April.

And let’s not forget about the plethora of other events that grace the month of March. From International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the achievements and contributions of women, to Easter, which falls on March 31st this year, March is brimming with opportunities to connect, reflect, and celebrate the beauty of life. And to cook a lot of delicious food.

Whether you’re basking in the sunshine, shivering in a snowstorm, or dancing in the rain, all possibilities during this crazy month, may your March be filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures!
